Season of Creation and St. Francis Day Resources
Season of CreationThe Season of Creation, September 1st through October 4th, is celebrated by Christians around the world as a time for renewing, repairing and restoring our relationship to God, one another, and all of creation. The Episcopal Church joins this international effort for prayer and action for climate justice and an end to environmental racism and ecological destruction. This year’s theme is Jubilee for the Earth: New Rhythms, New Hope. In celebrating the Season, we are invited to consider anew our ecological, economic, and political ways of living. The Season of Creation may be a great opportunity to hold an outdoor worship service. Consult with your Diocese before holding any in-person outdoor event for local recommendations on how to limit and track attendance, ensure social distancing, and to discern if outdoor events are the right choice for your congregation or community. Season of Creation Weekly Devotional: For the Season of Creation 2020, leaders from The Episcopal Church, the Anglican Church in Canada, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada collaborated on a set of beautiful weekly devotionals. In Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s words, “Liberating, life-giving God, help us to know that we and the world you have created are truly the work of your hands.
