From the DioLog:
1. September convocation meetings: ONLINE on Saturday, September 12th
Bishop Bascom and members of the diocesan staff will be online for those meetings to answer questions. 2. DIOCESAN CONVENTION - Saturday, October 24th - will be a 1 day event preceded by online Minster meetings Each minster shepherd and team will choose a site where the number of delegates and clergy of the minster are able to sit at 6 feet distance from one another. Minster shepherds have been given a list with the number of possible attendees for each minister. This site may be in one of the minster churches or another place, if needed. Across the diocese the 12 minsters will be knit together, engaging one another to elect representatives to the Council of Trustees and Disciplinary Board, pass a diocesan mission plan (budget) and any other business, and also work with our minster neighbors on plans for mission in the year ahead. Those who need or prefer to participate individually from home are welcome to do that. Zoom video conferencing will be utilized to connect the 12 minster locations and those who usually sit at the convention head table, as well as any who choose to participate online from home. All voting will be done electronically; information about that will be available to all delegates and clergy ahead of time. The Council also agreed that if conditions make it unsafe for even these smaller convention gatherings to take place, all or part of the event will move online. If that occurs, notice will be given to affected minister locations, or to the entire group of delegates and clergy, as early as possible. 3. Women are invited to ECW online event - Brochure All women in churches of Province 7, including the Diocese of Kansas, are invited to a first-ever online Zoom conference entitled “Carry the Light of Love” on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon Central time. This is a free Zoom conference, but participants are asked to register in advance. Online registration The live conference will be limited to the first 100 registrants, however a recording of the event will be available to those unable to join live. Once registration is full, all additional registrants will be notified once the recording is available. 4. Bethany House and Gardens has a new website |

Plant, Pray, & Proclaim! We believe that one thing that love could do right now is call a community of people with the ability to plant gardens of all sizes and kinds together – from small pots of herbs to hundreds of acres of corn – in order to share the love of Christ through word and action, food and labor. PLANT: Commit to planting more than you would under average circumstances in order to share the bounty. (This may mean you plant one window box of herbs when you have never planted any, or you add an extra row to your garden, or an extra hen to your flock.)
PRAY: Commit to pray daily for our church and our world to form loving, liberating, life-giving relationships with all of Creation through the better use of our land – personally and communally. (Now sure where to start? Don’t worry, we will be sending a monthly email with scripture, prayer, & practical resources.) PROCLAIM: Commit to proclaiming the love of God through word & example by sharing your Good News Garden commitment, status, & story via social media channels, personal testimonies & by using the hashtag #GoodNewsGardens. |
